Ai-Jen Poo

Ai-jen Poo is an American labor organizer and activist known for advocating for the rights of often overlooked domestic workers and caregivers. Through her advocacy and activism, she has helped to bring attention to the important but often overlooked work of domestic workers and caregivers, and has worked to ensure that they are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Poo is the director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance. She co-founded the organization in 2007, and it has since become a powerful force for change, helping pass laws that protect the rights of workers in several states.

Poo has also been a leading voice on issues related to women’s rights and social justice. She has spoken out against gender-based violence and harassment, and she has advocated for policies that would promote gender equity and pay equity.

Poo has been recognized for her work with numerous awards and honors, including the MacArthur Fellowship and the Ford Foundation’s Visionaries Award. She was also named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2012.
