Andrea Chan

Andrea Chan is a mental health counselor at Richmond Area Multi Services (RAMS) in San Francisco.

What inspired you to pursue a career in behavioral health?

We live in a world that is hard to make sense of some of the time (or most of the time). Being able to find mutuality with my patients, be it in understanding, growth, and/or healing, is what drew me to this line of work.

How has being in NUHW helped you in your profession?

Being in NUHW has helped me keep in mind the bigger picture, such as the importance of advocating for mental health awareness, funding, and community engagement. All of these things, ultimately, have an impact on this field as we all live in a larger context, beyond the treatment room.
