Lisa Delgadillo

Lisa Delgadillo is a licensed marriage and family therapist at Kaiser Permanente in Fontana.

What inspired you to pursue a career in behavioral health?

My inspiration for getting involved in mental health care was my amazing mother, who was a psychiatric nurse for 40 years, working in psychiatric hospitals. Her stories of the patients she helped and the fulfilling work she did compelled me to become a therapist.

On a more spiritual note, I do believe this is my life calling. I feel so grateful to be in this field of work, to be able to offer a place for clients, in the words of Father Gregory Boyle of Homeboy Industries, to be “safe, seen and cherished” as they participate in their journey toward recovery and healing.

How has being in NUHW helped you in your profession?

As a social worker, social justice and advocacy are infused in all of our curriculum. NUHW has been instrumental in empowering me to actively advocate on behalf of my clients and members. I feel proud to be part of a union that is so passionate about improving mental health care for all!
