Kaiser Mental Health Care Strike: March 25, 2025

More than 120 people attended our rally and protest in San Diego today, including Kaiser patients, elected officials and allies from other unions, including OPEIU, UNAC, CWA and the Inland Empire Labor Council. Several news outlets covered the event, including FOX-5, ABC-10, San Diego Union Tribune, Univision and Courthouse News.

At one point, TV cameras were rolling as strikers peppered a Kaiser HR executive with questions and handed him a giant letter from the San Diego Labor Council calling on Kaiser to settle the strike on our terms.

Striking workers travelled from Orange County and the Inland Empire to participate in the San Diego action. A steward from the Antelope Valley led several chants.

We’re hoping for equally impactful actions tomorrow in Pasadena and Thursday in Bakersfield. We encourage everyone to join us by signing up for either action via our picket shift sign-up form

On Sunday, we had another good experience at Greg Adams’ church. About 15 striking workers attended services and were again warmly received by the clergy members and congregation.

Commitment Survey Results
Seventy-nine percent of workers in our Psych-Social bargaining unit completed the updated Commitment Survey that went out following mediation. Among respondents, 85 percent said they are still committed to winning all three of our core issues: Restoring pensions, fair raises that make up for years without cost-of-living raises, and sufficient Patient Management Time. Participants who said they are no longer committed to all three issues will soon receive a follow-up survey seeking more information.
