Watch the NUHW Governor Candidate Forum

September 20, 2024

NUHW is proud to once again be hosting the first candidate forum in the race for California governor. The 90-minute forum will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, September 29 during our Leadership Conference in San Francisco.

It will be streamed live in English and Spanish on NUHW’s YouTube channel and at the Los Angeles Times, which is our media partner. A recording of the forum will remain archived on NUHW’s YouTube channel.

Participating in the forum are State Senator Toni Atkins, Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, and former State Controller Betty Yee.

They will be asked questions from the moderator, Lisa Matthews of the Associated Press, as well as Politico Senior Political Reporter Melanie Mason and L.A. Times Politics Editor Laurel Rosenhall.

While it’s too early to make an official NUHW endorsement in the 2026 gubernatorial election, there will be a non-binding straw poll following the forum.
