Kaiser Mental Health Care Strike: Day 58

There has already been some media attention about the joint letters from State Senate President Pro Tem Mike McGuire and Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas — and a majority of state legislators — calling on Kaiser to settle on our terms.

Health Dive, a trade publication, covered the news, as did Spectrum television in Los Angeles.

Picket line notes

  • We had a football-style tailgate party on the Anaheim line on Monday, courtesy of the Orange County Labor Federation. The federation and CLUE are teaming up this Friday at LAMC and next Monday on the Anaheim line for a holiday-themed celebration.
  • The party tomorrow will be in Lancaster, where folks on the Antelope Valley picket line are treating each other to a pie-making contest.
  • On several lines, strikers were leaving voicemail messages for Governor Gavin Newsom about the strike and legislators either thanking them for signing onto the support letters or asking for their support moving forward.
  • Lots of people are celebrating Superhero Week, wearing masks and capes on the picket lines.
