We started Month Six of our strike today with a powerful action outside Kaiser’s Psychiatry Symposium at the Sheraton Park Hotel in Anaheim. It’s a union hotel, and UNITE HERE hotel workers wore “NUHW” pins and distributed our strike leaflets in the ballroom. Outside, we had several dozen workers and allies handing out leaflets and chanting.
At one point, a supportive participant in the symposium came out, took a photo with us and said our chants could be heard loud and clear. Overall, we handed out about 500 leaflets, and showed Kaiser that we are not giving up.
Last night, several strikers attended the annual gala for Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE). Pastor Jennifer Gutierrez, who leads the organization, praised the strike in her remarks, tying it to the theme of bringing order from chaos.
It’s not too late to sign up for our actions this coming week.
