Yesterday’s bargaining was largely uneventful. Kaiser management spent about 3 hours asking us questions about our Workload, Provider Profiles and Patient Care proposal, so they could “understand” it better.
The Employer had no proposals for us and we gave them revised proposals on the following Articles:
- Union Representation – eliminated our request for additional paid steward meeting days
- Corrective Action Procedure – added language to ensure those subject to the peer review process have union representation and rights to due process
- Non-Discrimination – added the following protected classes, which are now protected under California law: gender expression, genetic information, reproductive health decision making and military status
We also gave them a Proposal on Student Loan Repayment Program to double the lifetime maximum payouts, so employees can access to the annual payout for eight years instead of four. We also put a deadline on payouts for April, citing KP’s past history of unreliability in this area, including that they are still unable to give us a firm date when the payout will occur this year.
