Not much happened during yesterday’s bargaining. Kaiser had nothing to present, as they continue to stick with their three onerous proposals. We presented a revised proposal on Reduction in Force, lowering our previous amount requested for severance payouts. To be clear, our proposal, unlike Kaiser’s, does not open the door for lay-offs. It only adds provisions that allow for severance packages, should layoffs occur — something that is not in our current contract.
We spent some time with the employer discussing workplace safety issues, particularly around inappropriate behavior by patients. We are working on a proposal for next time, with hopes of reaching a tentative agreement on the Safety article in the contract.
