Very little happened at bargaining today. Kaiser had no proposals for us, although we made the last substantive proposal on almost every open issue. They also rebuffed the proposal we made, to sign off on current contract language for areas where neither party had made proposals. We told them that after eight months of bargaining, it was time to commit to no surprise proposals.
During the fifteen minutes management spent in the room with us, it was apparent they were quite distressed about our upcoming strike, at one point calling it “unnecessary” and at another bemoaning the fact that nearly 24,000 RN’s would be striking in sympathy with us.
