The employer had no responses to our proposals and no proposals of its own today, but did agree to two future bargaining dates from among the twelve days we had offered.
We presented a revised proposal on Article XVII – Wages that included the following changes from our previous proposals:
- Reduced our proposal for wage increases from 23% over three years to 22.5% over three years;
- Changed effective date to eliminate involuntary call for after hours ED coverage from January 1, 2027 until six months after ratification of a new contract;
- Changed effective date of new 20- and 25-year longevity steps to six months after ratification of a new contract; and
- Lowered the amount of our proposed increase in the bi-lingual differential from $3/hour to $2.50/hour
After a caucus, management let us know they might consider eliminating involuntary call sometime sooner than their current proposed date of October 1, 2029 if we considered allowing non-union staff, other than managers and doctors, to cover ED shifts.
