We welcomed some wonderful guests on our picket lines this week. On Wednesday in Lancaster, a 7- year-old girl handed workers artificial roses, and each rose had a heart-shaped tag that read “You will win.”
She also handed out buttons that read, “United we bargain; Divided we beg.” Several workers brought their roses to Wednesday’s bargaining session.
Today, the National Association of Social Workers had a contingent on our picket line outside LAMC. They recorded an interview with one of our members for their national Instagram account and pledged to do a feature on another member. They also offered to buy everyone lunch, but we had already had that covered.
Save The Date: We’re planning a big rally with guests and supporters outside LAMC, Friday, February 7, which is the day after our last scheduled bargaining session. The picket line will be 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and the rally will be noon to 1 p.m. More details to come.
ICYMI:
- Bargaining was more cordial on Thursday. Kaiser made some movement on a few items, but is still failing to adequately address the key disparities in terms of pensions, salaries and scheduling/patient management time. Check out the full bargaining update that was sent out this morning. Our next bargaining session is Wednesday, January 29.
- NPR’s All Things Considered ran a story about our strike in connection to the increased need for behavioral healthcare due to the LA Wildfires. Check it out: https://www.npr.org/2025/01/23/nx-s1-5269756/striking-therapists-worry-about-mental-health-impact-of-the-wildfires-in-la
