Corri Chadwick is a mental health therapist at Elk Grove Unified School District.
What inspired you to pursue a career in behavioral health?
After I completed my undergraduate degree, I was doing long-term substitute teaching in middle schools. While talking with one of the school counselors, he had shared an alarming statistic: approximately one in five teens was suffering from at least one diagnosable mental health disorder. I knew that my passion for mental health and wellness, in combination with working with children and families, made becoming an LMFT the perfect profession.
How has being in NUHW helped you in your profession?
NUHW has helped leverage our voices as mental health therapists in Elk Grove Unified School District and ultimately work toward ensuring that student’s mental health needs are heard.
