NUHW has a lot of unfinished business as 2024 heads to a close. We’re two months into a strike at Kaiser, with major contracts still being negotiated with Keck-USC and Providence, and major contract negotiations fast approaching at UCSF Children’s Hospital Oakland and Kaiser Northern California.

But we still accomplished a lot this year. Here are NUHW’s Top 10(ish) Stories of the Year:

5: Tie: NUHW expands presence at Providence San Pedro and NUHW grows at Providence’s St. Joseph Eureka and Santa Rosa Memorial hospitals and Sacramento Behavioral Health Hospital workers vote to join NUHW and more USC workers vote to join NUHW.

4: Tie: Seton Workers win back health coverage with strong contract and MarinHealth workers win new contract after strike and Sutter workers keep free healthcare in hard-fought contract wins

3:  Tie: Attentive Kaiser workers secure nearly $1 million in unpaid raises and Hawai’i workers make Kaiser pay full performance bonus
