Jasmine Crockett is an American attorney and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Texas’s 30th congressional district since January 2023.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Crockett attended Rhodes College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 2003. Initially aspiring to be an anesthesiologist or certified public accountant, her career path shifted toward law after experiencing hate crimes during college. She obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center in 2006.
After law school, Crockett served as a public defender in Bowie County, Texas, and later established her own law firm, notably taking on pro bono cases for Black Lives Matter activists. Her legal career focused on criminal defense and civil rights, reflecting her commitment to justice and equality.
In 2020, Crockett was elected to the Texas House of Representatives for District 100. During her tenure, she advocated for voting rights, police reform, and social justice issues.
In 2022, Crockett was elected to represent Texas’s 30th Congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. Since then, she has gained national attention for her outspoken and unfiltered approach, particularly in addressing issues like reproductive rights, gun violence, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
