Kaiser Mental Health Care Strike: April 18, 2025

Everyone is welcomed to participate this Saturday in an 8-mile walk, completely organized by strikers, to further demonstrate our resolve to win a fair contract. So far, more than 40 workers have signed up for the walk, which will begin shortly after 8 a.m. at the Eagle Rock Recreation Center, 1100 Eagle Vista Drive, Los Angeles. Participants will walk to Barnsdall Art Park, 4800 Hollywood Boulevard, which is adjacent to Kaiser’s Los Angeles Medical Center. The walk should take a little over three hours, and participants should bring plenty of water.

Bargaining resumes Tuesday
Bargaining with Kaiser and the mediators will resume on Tuesday. We’re hopeful that progress will be made toward a fair settlement.

Leafleting Kaiser Board Members
We continued leafleting members of Kaiser Permanente’s Board of Directors, who are paid well over $200,000 per year, but have failed to press Kaiser to settle a fair contract or address its behavioral health deficiencies. On Wednesday, strikers leafletted the gated Rancho Santa Fe neighborhood of Kaiser Board member David Hoffmeister. Also this week, strikers continued to leaflet Rothy’s, a chain shoe store operated by Kaiser Board Member Jenny Ming, whose previous business was cited for contracting with a factory that was cited for using “sweatshop practices.”
