Mediation went late into the night Thursday into Friday and will resume Saturday morning. We will continue updating everyone to the best of our ability.
We were honored for our strike today at Los Angeles City Hall. About a dozen strikers were on hand to accept a special May Day Award from Councilmembers Hugo Soto-Martinez and Eunisses Hernandez.
On Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., the Assembly Health Committee will hold an informational hearing focusing on Kaiser’s behavioral health services. Testifying at the hearing will be Kaiser therapist Kassaundra Gutierrez-Thompson, Kaiser patient and private practice psychologist Milton Brown, Lauren Finke of the Kennedy Forum, NUHW President Sophia Mendoza, and a representative from the Department of Managed Health Care. Kaiser declined an invitation to testify at the hearing.
Already, more than three dozen Kaiser patients have provided written testimony to the committee, which will gather information pointing at why Kaiser is still struggling to meet legal requirements and clinical standards for behavioral health care despite multiple fines and citations.
Get a link to watch the hearing live starting at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 6.
