Teeanna Harvey is a Behavior Specialist at Rogers Behavioral Health in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
What inspired you to pursue a career in behavioral health?
I am a Behavior Specialist with Rogers Behavioral Health. I was originally on a nursing track in college, but I switched to psychology after realizing how much of an impact I could have in supporting people’s mental health. What I find most meaningful about this work is seeing the progress people make. Being part of a team that helps individuals grow, heal, and move forward is incredibly rewarding. Knowing that I can play even a small role in someone’s improvement is what inspires me and keeps me passionate about what I do.
How has being in NUHW helped you in your profession?
Being a member of the National Union of Healthcare Workers has helped me understand the true value of teamwork and the importance of using my voice. It has shown me that I have the ability to advocate for positive change in my workplace — not just for myself, but for my coworkers and the patients I work with.
