Statement by Sal Rosselli, National Union of Healthcare Workers President Emeritus, on the election of Scott Wiener to Congress
The following statement is from Sal Rosselli, a San Francisco resident and president emeritus of NUHW, which represents 19,000 healthcare workers, including more than 5,000 mental health workers. NUHW sponsored Wiener’s SB 221, which requires health plans to provide timely return mental health therapy appointments, and co-sponsored SB 770, a bill that is helping advance single-payer healthcare in California.
NUHW was the first union to endorse Scott Wiener, and our members are proud to have knocked on thousands of doors to help elect him to Congress. No state legislator has done more to improve access to behavioral health care and advance Medicare for All in California. We’re excited to work with Scott nationally to achieve quality and affordable health care for everyone. Scott is a brilliant and principled public servant who will always stand up for the people of San Francisco and stand up to President Trump.
