We’ve received some exciting pre-Thanksgiving news.
State Senate President Pro Tem Mike McGuire has joined Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas in drafting a letter calling on Kaiser CEO Greg Adams to “agree to the union’s reasonable contract proposals in order to ensure the delivery of timely and appropriate behavioral health services to your patients.”
Just like with the nearly identical letter that Speaker Rivas drafted, we’ll work with Sen. McGuire to get a majority of Democrats in his legislative chamber to also sign onto the letter before it is sent to Adams.
Having the leaders of the State Senate and Assembly – along with many of their colleagues – on record calling on Kaiser to settle the contract on our terms will ratchet up the pressure for Kaiser to return to the bargaining table with improved proposals.
Aloha from Maui
A few therapists in Hawai’i, who are no strangers to striking Kaiser, sent warm wishes and “lovely Maui energy” in this sweet support video.
Social Worker Support
The National Association of Social Workers’ California Chapter is stepping up its support for our strike. Check out this Instagram post from earlier this week. They’re also finishing up a letter to Greg Adams that we should be able to share next week.
