Tentative agreement reached to end Kaiser mental health strike

Kaiser Permanente and the National Union of Healthcare Workers Reach Tentative Agreement

NUHW ends its open-ended strike in Southern California

PASADENA, CA, May 4, 2025 — Kaiser Permanente and the National Union of Healthcare Workers (NUHW) have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract covering approximately 2,400 mental health and addiction medicine employees in Southern California. With this tentative agreement, NUHW will end its open-ended strike in Southern California.

NUHW will review the tentative agreement with its members. NUHW expects to complete the ratification vote by May 8. If ratified, the agreement will have immediate effect.

Both parties wish to thank the mediators, Mark Ghaly, MD and Darrell Steinberg, for their instrumental support during the negotiations.

Details of the agreement will be available upon ratification.
